A Letter
From Our Founder
Dear business person,
The world is changing, but when was it ever not? Advertising men (as they were called for the lack of involvement of women in the industry) went from being worse liars than politicians to being temporarily overtaken by politicians. And now, any small business owner who has had to deal with some agencies might attest that advertisers are back in contention for the top spot.
It is my earnest belief that advertising firms should have a fiduciary duty to their clients in the same way that Attorneys, Doctors, and Financial Advisors do. Because when you think about it, these clients are other business owners trying to pay off the mortgage, their staff, get their kids through school, fulfill dreams, be prepared for medical emergencies, etc. So when the advertiser you put your trust in fails to act in your best interest, they are essentially playing with your life.
However, many agencies at the SME level do not seem to share this belief. Research found a fundamental disconnect where 100% of clients agree agencies should have a fiduciary duty to act in their best interest, whereas most agency contracts are written as principal transactions (acting as a vendor selling a product for a markup).
I believe advertising should be done differently, and that is why we are here.
I founded Melvin Braide Media as a response to the contemporary agency-client relationship at the SME level which is sour at its core and lacking in trust and long term relationships. I have dreamed of a new reality where the relationship between an advertising firm and their clients would be more or less a symbiotic partnership rather than a means to an end, with the end being the agency meeting quotas.
Agency Problems and the Melvin Braide Solution
These are the 9 biggest problems in the advertising industry as I see it
1. The Hammer and Nail Syndrome
Social media agencies pitch exposure; Facebook specialists pitch ads; SEO firms pitch organic rankings. From PPC to PR, every specialist insists their specific tool is the “magic bullet” for your business.
The Insider Reality: Having spent a decade in advertising, I’ve seen it constantly: when an agency only sells one tool, every problem looks like the same nail. They aren’t diagnosing your business; they’re just selling their inventory.
The Melvin Braide Solution: We Don’t Sell Services, We Sell Results
By becoming our partner, you are not signing up for a website, SEO, PPC, or social media awareness. You are signing up to double your lead generation in 180 days. We combine our 7-pillar framework in creative ways to grow your business. In my experience working across in-house and agency teams, I have learned that the best and most predictable results hardly come from one channel alone, but happens when a business finds the right mix of channels. While other agencies sell hours, we sell a system.
2. The "Moonshot" Promise (With Zero Accountability)
Agencies are great at selling the dream—”Rank #1 in 30 days” or “Guaranteed 10x ROI”—just to get the contract signed. But when the “guarantees” fall flat, the client is the only one who pays the price. It’s all the upside for them, and all the risk for you.
The Insider Reality: I’ve sat in the pitch meetings where these numbers are pulled out of thin air. It’s a classic “churn and burn” strategy: promise the moon to hit a sales quota, then hand the account off to a junior staffer who has no way of hitting those targets.
The Melvin Braide Solution: A Legally Binding Performance Covenant
Our contract is your security. We take all of the risk in this relationship because why should you? In the Documentation Phase, we sign our performance promise on the dotted line. This isn’t a “marketing tool”—it is a legally binding commitment. If we fail to hit the target, we are contractually obligated to refund 100% of your retainer.
3. The ROI Black Box
If you can’t draw a straight line from the dollars spent to the dollars earned, you aren’t investing; you’re gambling. Most SME agencies hide behind “brand awareness” because they lack the systems to prove they actually moved the needle on your bottom line.
The Insider Reality: In my experience, if an agency can’t show you the math, it’s usually because the math doesn’t work. I’ve seen millions of dollars in “spend” justified by nothing more than a feeling, simply because the agency didn’t want to be held accountable for actual sales.
The Melvin Braide Solution: The Due Diligence Filter
Our 180-day “Double Your Lead Gen” promise provides a clear ROI. To protect my name and your time, we are highly selective. If, during the Due Diligence phase, our data indicates that we cannot achieve this doubling of your leads, we will inform you immediately and decline the account. We only accept partnerships where success is a provable, mathematical certainty.
4. The Transparency Gap
You shouldn’t feel like a private investigator just to find out where your budget went. Between “data dump” reports filled with jargon and “scope creep” fees that appear out of thin air, many agencies thrive on keeping their clients in the dark.
The Insider Reality: I’ve seen agencies use complexity as a shield. They bury the lack of progress under 50-page reports and technical jargon, hoping you’ll be too overwhelmed to ask the one question that matters: “Is this actually working?”
The Melvin Braide Solution: Absolute Fiscal Transparency
We treat your capital with the same respect we treat our own legacy. We provide total clarity on pricing, process, and deliverables upfront. Every penny of your advertising spend is accounted for in granular detail; we do not hide behind complex billing—we provide a clear audit trail.
5. The Hostage Situation
A major red flag: agencies that refuse to grant you admin access to your own ad accounts or domain. They don’t win your loyalty through results; they keep you by holding your business assets hostage. If you don’t own your data, you don’t own your marketing.
The Insider Reality: This is the darkest “secret” of the industry. I’ve seen clients forced to stay with terrible agencies for years because they realized—too late—that they didn’t actually own their own website or data. It’s a predatory tactic, plain and simple.
The Melvin Braide Solution: Total Asset Autonomy
From day one of our “Gestation” period, we ensure that you—and only you—maintain primary ownership of your Google Ads, Meta Business Suite, and domain registry. We are your growth pilots, but it is your plane. If we don’t deliver on our promise, you can walk away with every byte of data, every pixel of creative, and every historical insight we’ve built. You stay with us because of the ROI we generate, not because we have the keys to your business.
6. The Vanity Metric Obsession
Likes, follows, and impressions look great in a colorful PDF, but you can’t pay your staff with “engagement.” These “vanity metrics” are easy to inflate and deflect accountability, even when they have zero impact on your actual revenue.
The Insider Reality: I’ve seen agencies celebrate a “viral” post that resulted in zero sales. They’ll point to a graph going up and to the right, ignoring the fact that your bank account is staying flat. They’re optimizing for their ego, not your bottom line.
The Melvin Braide Solution: Zero Tolerance for Vanity Metrics
We are an advertising firm for serious business people. We have no interest in reporting “impressions,” “clicks,” or “CTR.” Those are digital distractions. At Melvin Braide Media, we focus exclusively on revenue-generating actions. If a metric doesn’t move the needle on your bottom line, it doesn’t belong in our report.
7. The Knowledge Vacuum
You shouldn’t have to pay an agency to teach them your own industry. When firms skip the deep discovery phase, they produce generic, “copy-paste” content that fails to capture your brand’s voice or nuance. They’re running campaigns for a business they don’t actually understand.
The Insider Reality: It’s painful to watch an agency try to “wing it.” I’ve seen generic templates used for a B2B software company that were originally designed for a local bakery. If they don’t respect your niche enough to learn it, they’ll never be able to sell it.
The Melvin Braide Solution: The 30-Day Gestation Period (Deep Research)
Generic strategies produce generic results. We dedicate the first 30 days of our partnership to “Gestation”—a period of intensive research, technical auditing, and industry immersion. We do not execute until we have a profound understanding of your specific unique selling proposition and have uncovered your competitive advantage.
8. The Contractual Prison
Long-term contracts without escape clauses are the ultimate sign of insecurity. If an agency provides value, they don’t need to lock you in for a year initially. Being “stuck” for twelve months in a relationship that isn’t working is a recipe for resentment, not growth.
The Insider Reality: I’ve always believed that if you have to force a client to stay, you’ve already failed them. I’ve seen too many businesses stagnate for months because they were legally bound to a “strategy” that everyone in the room knew was dead on arrival.
The Melvin Braide Solution: The 180-Day Fixed-Term Engagement
We do not believe in trapping partners in long-term, low-value contracts. Your initial engagement is locked for only 180 days (30 days of gestation and 150 days of execution) which allows us enough time to immerse our 7-pillar framework into your business. This is the “Braide Window”: we either double your leads within this timeframe, or we return your investment.
9. Tactics Without Strategy
Executing ads, blogs, or social posts without an overarching strategy is just “noise.” Most agencies are great at pulling levers (tactics) but terrible at building the machine (strategy). Without a cohesive plan, you’re just wasting budget on disjointed tasks.
The Insider Reality: This is the most common mistake I see. Agencies jump straight into “doing” because it’s billable, without ever asking “why.” You end up with a collection of random acts of marketing that never actually connect to a business goal.
The Melvin Braide Solution: The Framework Of The Century
Our 7-pillar framework is a refined form of the omnichannel strategy crafted specifically for high quality lead generation. It’s a coordinated, well rounded assault on the market where each pillar and corresponding sub-element are all cogs in the machine working together to cover all customer touchpoints, both digital and physical. Nothing we do is isolated, it’s all part of the overarching strategy that I believe is the framework of the century.
The Bottom Line
I didn’t build this firm because the world needed another marketing agency; I built it because I was tired of watching businesses get burned by the “standard” model. After a decade in the trenches of advertising, I’ve seen every trick, every “black box” report, and every broken promise on this list.
At Melvin Braide Media, we’ve stripped away the fluff and replaced it with a Legally Binding Performance Covenant. We don’t ask for your trust—we earn it through mathematical certainty and fiscal transparency. If we don’t double your leads within the 180-Day Braide Window, we don’t deserve your investment. It’s that simple.
Yours sincerely,

Melvin Braide.
